Ever taken a pre-med course over the summer?

I'm considering either taking chem 3a/3al or physics 8b over the summer to save time so I can graduate a couple semesters early.. but what's it like taking a difficult course with lab over the summer? If it's too painful, I'll just take it during fall or spring.. thanks for the input.

i've never taken a course during the summer (will take Bio1A Summer 09 tho), but the Physics 8 Labs are not bad at all. you're not required to go to Discussion either.

I took Chem 3B/ 3BL last summer (2008) and did extremely well (A+ in both). It's not like I'm a genius either. I even was working in a lab and took a random art class in the evenings. I would say it's actually much easier to take a pre-med course in the summer because professors don't expect you to know tiny tiny details - it is only eight weeks!

awesome, thanks so much.. yeah i was worried because I don't have a strong chem background, so it'd probably be a lot more difficult for me.. but it seems like it's probably a better decision if I take it in the summer =)

Taking premed classes in the summer is a good idea. As someone already mentioned, they are more condensed and the profs expect less out of you.

Take them at another school...thats the best idea.

hominid - i'm sorry you had a rough time that summer.. yeah i hate chem too, so I can relate a lot.. lol. but i guess if i take it over summer, i can get over faster too.. and yeah, maybe i should stick to only taking one class that summer.

hopefullyhaas - which school do you recommend? i dont think i should though since med schools will take it into account if i took it in an easier school..

If it's a matter of how hard you work--then take it at Berkeley. If it's a matter of getting an A in Podunkville CC versus a B- at Cal, then take it at Podunkville CC.

don't take @ CC .....it will look bad

How difficult is it to take Chem 3B/3BL and Physics 8A concurrently?

i was thinking about taking the equivalent of chem 3b/bl and a math 16b at ucla during the summer, which is closer to home.

how does the whole quarter/semester thing work?
is this recommended?

What about taking 3 classes at summer session?

Such as taking one class during session A
then taking two classes during session C

Is this possible?

bumpity bump bump

Well wouldn't that depend on what courses you took?
