Ever thinking about running a business in your dorm?

I was thinking the other day of running my own business in the comfort of my dorm room...on the internet. There are a lot of ideas flooding through my brain and I believe that this is the best place to start it since there are so many classes and free seminars available about computer programming and internet.
I have no idea where to start tho...

does anyone run their own business?

Planning to! I'm planning on creating a web design thing this summer or the summer after that. Just need a credit card for paypal!

Last semester, a student on campus was arrested for growing and selling marijuana from his room!

That's probably not the type of business one should engage in, from one's dorm or from anywhere else.

Just make sure it doesn't seem too good to be true, because usually those are the ones that are scams

I am almost sure I wont be selling drugs in my dorm room...just almost.

but I wouldnt engage in a partnership with something that I was not 100% confident about . I was just thinking of starting something online.

Did anyone play noepets like way back when?! that game with the pets and the money...well the ppl that own that started it in their dorms and now they are multi-millionaires. Ideas are there for a reason it seems.

If you build a legit business, you'll want to check licensing restrictions or you could get shut down pretty quickly by your university and face student life discipline for misusing school resources (network and residence space as well as, potentially, academic software licenses).
You can get into A LOT of legal trouble, so make sure you know what you're doing before doing anything too big!

ugh that is annoying! i actually did hear something about that one time now that I think of it. hmmmmmmm, well thankfully I wont be living on campus much longer if i decided to pursue something. Dorm life is fun but irritating at times!

...Of course if yo keep your biz small enough to stay under the radar, you should be ok....

I think if you're going to make money on the internet, there's really nothing much easier, with a higher expected value than poker. You can make 6 figures a year (although that might be tough in a college environment), and the money will come much easier than hoping you make the next big thing on the internet.

You brought up neopets, and yes, I was a frequenter. It's funny how something like that could make somebody so rich.
