<p>Hey guys, just wanted to say thank you to all of you who have been so supportive and positive here on this forum. It's really something.</p>
<p>I've seen some threads where kids completely bash each other about their chances, or gloat over acceptances. Like wolves attacking each other in an attempt to prove themselves the Alpha!</p>
<p>I'm going to try to carry this kind of attitude to my friends and peers at school, even if we happen to be rivals. I made the mistake of being somewhat catty when I first got my deferral and heard somebody else got accepted, but now I feel really bad about that and hope to not repeat that mistake. (Think positive, no negative! Ohmmmm.......ohmmmm....)</p>
<p>Well anyway as someone who was waitlisted at RD, I’d recommend the following:</p>
<ol>
<li>Send in any recent accomplishments (like an internship, or a competition etc)</li>
<li>Write another essay that demonstrates how much you’re interested in Pomona (without begging)</li>
<li>Call Bruce Poch. (ok I was kidding on this one, but I actually tried to get to speak to him, but he wasn’t around that day in office lol)</li>
</ol>
<p>Glad to see you’re trying to think positive. Keep in mind that everyone makes mistakes - and sometimes we all get jealous and catty. It’s normal. The hard part is admitting we did wrong and learn from it. And it takes time to develop a positive mindset, so don’t rush it as well. Whatever college you end up going to, that’s gonna be important.</p>
<p>Definitely let Pomona know that it’s still your first choice; it doesn’t have to be an essay - it could just be an e-mail or a note. Of course, applying ED demonstrated that, too, but it never hurts to reiterate.</p>
<p>I was able to speak with an admissions officer, and I assured him that Pomona was my first choice. Haha, I even kind of interrupted him to say it.</p>
<p>Him: Okay, well have a nice da–</p>
<p>Me: OH OH WAIT one more thing!</p>
<p>Him: …yes?</p>
<p>Me: POMONA IS STILL ON THE TOP OF MY LIST. :0 I just wanted to let you know that.</p>
<p>Him: …great!</p>
<p>Haha or something like that. It could just be all in my head that it sounded like that.</p>
