Congrats! Do you think you will be living in the specific residence halls? I'm not sure if I really WANT to. Anyways, nice to meet some fellow terps! =)

The whole point of being in Scholars is to be in a living/learning community with like minded people. I know the dorms are nicer for Honors..they may be for Scholars also. Keep that in mind too!

i got in.

explain how its diff. from honors?

i mean i read the booklet but still

I think honors and gemstones have more stuff to do than scholars. I wasn't interested in them because of that, but for some reason they invited me to scholars. I looked it up, and Im beginning to think of not signing up at all cause it takes away my opportunity to take classes that I DO want to take. The theme that fit me the most was Life Science, but I don't feel like going over the whole biology thing again (im a chemistry major) and none of the others really interest me anyways.

I think the only thing I like about the Scholars Program is that you get to be part of a group of people like you, live close to them, and go to class together.

As for the dorms, we are in the Cambridge Community

Check the Housing FAQ for Scholars. They show you which residence hall you would be in depending on the theme you apply to:

I heard that the average SAT for honors was 1350-1480, while the average SAT for scholars was around 1270-1380, so you can see the disparity.

One good thing about Scholars might be that it makes it easier to meet people and make friends.
I know my daughter met a nice group of kids in honors at her orientation and when she started UMD she had friends that she had gotten to know via emails throughout the summer.
She is a sophomore now and they are all really close.
