@terebin - Definitely. I think you should expect ~740 on CR, 660 on M, and 740 on WR. So I’d imagine in the 2100’s.

@kje - So long as you had decent examples and weren’t just writing random junk, I think that you will get anywhere from 10-12. It can often be based on luck.

BTW, does anyone think colleges are more lenient on the CR component if English isn’t one’s first/home-spoken language? (For example, I get High 600’s - Low-Med 700’s on CR; 790 on WR, and 780 on Math).

@Presidont- can you estimate what my score would most likely be? the CR was really hard /: hopefully they’ll have a generous curve.

also im in the same situation as you, i do not speak english at home at all. do colleges know this? or maybe if you explain it in your essay somehow? im not sure.

CR -1, predicting -2 or -3 in total though so hoping for 800
M skipped 2 or 3, got -2 so far, maybe -5 total ugh so 700?
W don’t want to talk about it… skipped 5, maybe 650 if I’m lucky
Total - 2150

What do you think my writing score will be if I got every multiple choice right, but my essay was shaky? The essay was a full 2 pages, well-structured, and used decently good vocabulary, but it was rushed and the 2nd body paragraph isn’t great.

missed 2 on math 3 times and got 740 all three times. Took last Oct. and FINALLY got 800 in math- missed 0. So for those of you interested, I think to get a perfect 800 in math you need to miss 0, and minus 1 would be about a 770. Don’t know about skipped questions because I never skipped any on math section. If you don’t get what you want, keep trying. It can be done!

that makes me feel a little better…i was expecting below 2000 and was considering cancelling.I know I can do A LOT better and this was only my first time so it’s an experience, at the least.
I just hope you underestimated my score but I’ll take anything above a 2000 for my first time. my goal is 2300 but that’s highly unlikely…

now I know what to focus on.

@1414
i don’t think you should cancel your score. i was considering cancelling too but it’s all in all experience…you can just work harder and take it again. you will be able to figure out weaknesses and strengths and focus on them. :)

Math – skipped 3? (ugh idk what I was doing) and got 1-2 wrong, plus I probably made some stupid mistakes
Writing – 1-2 wrong
CR – At least 1 wrong for sure, but probably 4-5 in total

GAH

Can anyone guess what I got? Sorry lol but I’m not good w/ predictions and this kinda stuff…I’m hoping for at least a 2100 total =/ or else that would be embarrassing since I studied so much =[

PSAT - 189
SAT (1st) - 630 CR, 760 M (1 wrong), 660 WR ==== 2050
SAT (2nd) - 650 CR, 780 M, 790 WR ==== 2220
SAT (3rd - guess/hope) - 730 CR, 770 M (agh stupid mistake), 740-800 WR ==== 2240-2300

Anyways, that was my last SAT so I really hope I get 2300+ superscored. Just study over the summer and write a longer essay - that’s what got my WR up. This time I realized I forgot to conclude one of my body paragraphs in my essay (as in, the sentence just didn’t end), but maybe the graders won’t notice. Good luck!

Sophomore PSAT:** 163?**
Junior PSAT: 189-ish

**Math: 600 /B

Estimated score 2150-2240

My goal was to break 2000 on my first SAT. I didn’t study all too much except some practice tests and lurking around CC, so I’ll be happy if I did this well.

oh wow!
my PSAT was 200
but i want to have an upward trend like you!

how did you study? prep course?
prep courses are too expensive for me…
i just used the blue book…and it’s exhausted now. no more tests left.
any suggestions on other books?

Tenors, I can still see a 2300 as possible for you. I think from all this feedback on CC the CR curve will be pretty generous.

Terebin, like I said I didn’t study all TOO much. I read the PR Cracking the SAT book briefly last summer (cause for PSAT jump?) but I didn’t do any practices test up until about 2 or 3 weeks ago (I did about 3 or 4).

Other than that I’ve just been reading the advice threads here on CC (The ‘How to get a 12 essay in 10 days,’ and the like) off and on for a few months and that’s been helpful.

Yea from what I understand, I think that most people on CC are dedicated enough that a course would just be a waste of money, and honestly the people I know who have taken review courses never score super high (2250+).

I think the best prep method is to just pay close attention on here and to do as many practice essays and practice tests as possible.
