so...after 4 years of working..i basically effed my self over. i've had all A's in high school, in a very, very competitive school, I had a 5.19 out of 6 (like 3.9 out of 4), was number 19 out of 720 i'm a NMSF, 2220 SAT, 4 fives in AP Tests, tons of Extracirriculars including internships with engineers, over 400 volunteer hours, tons of leadership junk including black belt in martial arts, and so i went ahead and applied to really good universities like Rice, Cornell, Berkeley, Columbia. But now. This semester. I'm in 7 AP classes and computer science independent study, and i just ruined my future. i handled 5 AP classes plus competitive tennis easily last year so i went ahead and took 7 this year. But here I am. With a lower GPA this semester than i've ever had before, never even thought i'd be able to hit such low grades. I have an 86 in AP stat, 86 in AP physics, and 87 in AP Calc BC. I'm disgusted with myself, not going to lie. I might even get a B in AP econ after finals! yay failiure. i've calculated it, and my gpa is going to drop to like 5.15, knock me down like 3 or maybe even more ranks. I just couldn't handle all the work with my extracirriculars. So basically, I'm assuming this means I won't get accepted into any of the schools i applied to, i mean let's face it my grades are ****. I pretty much hate my life now. four years of BS wasted, right?

Are you serious? Your not screwed. Yes it hurts, but it dosen’t kill.

you mad. 10 char

Oh the horrors of getting a B!!!..seriously,you have nothing to worry about,as if you didn’t know that already

Please tell me that some of the activities you did in the last four years were because you wanted to and they weren’t all motivated solely by the colleges you would be accepted at.

i doubt it. B’s in all my math courses when i’m applying for engineering? crappier grades than i’ve ever gotten? pretty sure i’m going to be discounted by all schools. and Pea, of course i did them because i enjoyed them. But some things, like my volunteer service, I went above and beyond on for the sake of standing out for colleges. but if my grades are crap, they won’t look beyond that.

take a chill pill dawg

a) your future is not ruined.
b) you’ll be accepted into some of those schools. and i’m sure you have safeties.
c) it’s out of your hands now so STOP WORRYING

B’s aren’t bad. a lot of people would kill to have B’s in those ap classes. so as a final word, SHADDAP!

i sure hope so…

Well you definitely get an “A” for dramatics and exaggeration.

Puh leez calm down

OH you be nice T26E4^

Cheer up dude, you’ve got a super heavy course load. You’ll be fine.

i honestly dont know. but thank you guys for the reassurance. Though i doubt it lol. F. m. l.

Call those universities and retract your application to save them the abdominal pain from extensive laughter. B’s? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Maybe fake some serious illness and repeat the year.

you’re being sarcastic right?

salamisalem, i hope you are being sarcastic.

Your schedule is killer, so yes, while the B’s are obviously very upsetting to you, they aren’t going to ruin you. You have already applied so admittance to colleges is out of your hands. Do your best and stop worrying over the Bs. You seem amazingly smart, but way too prone to worrying. Actually, now that I read your first post over again, grow up. You are either faking or are WAY too focused on grades and rank. For someone who, on paper, seems so smart, you sure aren’t acting that way. If you truly are worried, well, just stop worrying and realize that you are going crazy over nothing.

End of thread

i suppose you are correct. But how do you know my assortment of B’s won’t knock me out of the running for those colleges? there are so many kids I know, and so many others more out there that are applying to the same colleges, and they’ve never head a B in their lives. Thus my freakout centers over the fact that wouldn’t colleges choose them over me? why would they choose a B student in maths when there’s another viable A student. So aren’t I pretty much out of the running?

NO, so just shut your face!!! If you want to be “out of the running”, then fine. yes, all hope is lost, you suck for getting Bs, how dare you be such an awful student…

They see your grades up to junior year, by the time they see your end of semester grades, you should be in or out.Once again, your schedule is killer and Bs aren’t even that bad. If you get rejected, then it’s because of other things. If you thought you’d be out of the running, then you shouldn’t have applied in the first place.

Alright. I’ll just pray and hope you are right. But thank your for your honesty and harshness :/

Why do you care so much about the schools you applied to-- just because they have prestige? Not getting in won’t be the end of your life, nor will it mean your high school career has been wasted. You may not have the grades for those schools, but you have the grades for plenty of great schools.
