Everything ready..but recommendations. Need advice.

I've turned around my horrible H.S. GPA to a 3.6 at Community College. This is my last semester before I transfer, but I have one worry: recommendations.

What is the simplest way to go about this process? I'm guessing just get some letters, address and stamp them, and then find teachers you feel are appropriate to recommend you, and ask them?

I was going to apply to eight colleges and to ask a few teachers to mail out eight individual recommendations seems like a lot of effort on their part..is this normally how it goes?

Also, where do I address the letters of recommendation to? The universities admissions office?

I'm doing my applications online, is it going to matter whether the universities receive my applications or my recommendations first?

Sorry for all of the questions, I'm a first-generation college student and any advice would be appreciated.

If you’re using Common Application, the same recommendation may be sent to all 8 universities. You should always send your part of the application before the deadline. Recommendation letters and other school materials may arrive a little bit later; that usually isn’t a problem.
