Everything Received, but App not Complete?

As of today everything has been received including transcript, recs, and SAT testing. But my status still shows "incomplete." How long does it take for my app to become complete? Does it actually have to show "complete" before they start reviewing it?

Thanks!

I sent my SAT scores Sept 15th but it still says they dont have it? Some colleges I sent them too at the same time said they got it Sept 23rd!

it's incomplete b/c i just stole ur app from the admissions office

Umm, bumpity bump bump.

I have the same problem...Application is incomplete, but they should have everything! I think I'll be calling soon to find out what's going on...

Well, you guys know this, but it's not as if someone from the mail room opens your last rec, sees it's from you, and runs tearing to the data entry people, rec waving above their head, shrieking, "Her file is complete! Her file is complete! Stop everything, complete the check list, and do the daily update of wolverine access NOW!"

Doesn't work that way. Think about it--thousands of pieces of mail arrive each day. Each item has to be scanned and matched up with your existing hard copy file. Data entry has to be done. And updates to wolverine access happen nightly.

There's going to be a delay in getting all that done, but believe me Michigan will work to expedite getting your completed file to the readers.

Right. But I figured that they probably had some type of program that will mark the application complete as soon as it sees that everything is received. I mean, it wouldn't be a very complex program to create. It just seems logical and efficient for them to use computers to handle systematic tasks rather than using 100% human effort.

I talked to them online yesterday to check if everything was in...they said they had everything in the office and Wolverine Access should be updated to show it sometime this week.

It's not 100% human effort. Yes, there's a computer program. That's what you're seeing on Wolverine Access. And U-M has a very big IT division that has automated a lot of things, such as the checklists, the status of applicants, and so on. But you can't automate the entire system.

There are humans who open the mail, and they're there to handle odd situations like the check not included, a rec meant for Northwestern mailed to the wrong place, and so on. Humans also have to evaluate transcripts and decide what counts and what doesn't in the GPA, count units of math, science, etc. And a human has to physically find your hard file, add the remaining rec to it, and prepare it for the readers.

There probably is a very simple program that notes that all the pieces are there and says "complete." But it takes humans to get the piece out of the envelope and identified.

Also, I suspect that wolverine access doesn't get you into the live system where changes are made every minute (whether by those pesky humans or a computer program). It would be my best guess, based on other U-M databases, that Wolverine Access admissions data draws upon a database that is refreshed (updated) nightly. I could be wrong--I know the registration system has to be live because course enrollments change so quickly and need to be up-to-date. But I don't think the admission system, at least as far as it is accessed by outsiders, has the same need.

wolverine access is a headache...implement the BACK button please :-(

oops...is hoedown an adcom??? lol, he might track me down...but yeah...
mschedule is so much better lol
