Janitor? And a lot of other stuff. They hire economists, IT people, lawyers(especially for tax), etc.

i mean for ppl who are accounting and finance majors

They have internal audit oriented people too. Don’t know too much about them. Still, no point to working for the Big Four without getting your CPA. You work for the Big Four to get good jobs later, most of those good jobs will require a CPA.

CPA is overrated.

Stop capitalizing big four.

The Big Four are specific companies and the term should be capitalized.

Have you been reading too much ee cummings?

Most things in transaction/advisory services don’t require a CPA.

so working at a financial advisory department of a place like Deloitte would be reasonable? also would I eventually need a CPA or is it possible for advancement?

If your financial advisory you may not need a CPA, but you will need to look into things like a CFP, CFA, etc…

Big four is not a formal name like, say, Big Ten is for that particular conference. The Big Ten is a formal name for a conference. It is a brand and an organization. The big four is just four big companies that like people with strong GPAs. It’s too informal to be capitalized. It’s just that you respect them so greatly, and the phrase has the word big in it, AND you probably capitalize accounting anyway… but alas, in no way does the phrase deserve to be capitalized. The same goes for accounting. If you want to capitalize accounting, start the sentence with it, otherwise, just leave it lower case.

Something like Big Three for the Detroit automakers is borderline, but you have to consider that nearly everyone in the English-speaking world knows of that phrase, whereas only people in accounting/finance use ‘big four’ as vernacular - and even then, only those with strong GPAs dare speak of the big four in public. It’s a fine like that Big Three [sic] walk that big four is miles from. It would be like if I were to call CC and cpanet the “Big Two” - i.e. the two most pathetic forums on the internet. At what point is it right for that to be capitalized?

Why the **** would you want to work at a place like Deloitte? Are you some kind of sheep? Get a job that actually means something.

whats wrong with Deloitte? just wondering

They pay you $45k a year after taxes, which at 60 hours a week is about $15 an hour. And they fire you within two years.

The 3.8 GPA kids can buy into this because their accounting training did not develop their math skills to such an extent as to calculate their hourly wage. It’s the more intelligent 3.6 GPA kids, such as doggy and taxguy’s sons, who really know what the deal is and thus avoid the big four.

lol so they throw you out and hire fresh college grads.

i never really wanted to work for them though.

i need more information about deloitte i never knew they do this. i’ve kept my career if not my life trying to enter deloitte, each day i pray i enter someday. i hope it really pays or does it.

It’s more like 60-80 hours lately if you count the non-billable hours and weekends. Many of them quit after two years … or after they make seniors.

It takes them about two years to figure out the math…

^■■■■■ roffl

if they throw you out after 2 yrs, how is it possible for anyone to be any senior level people or even partners??

^Solid snake, that’s the point! <– See how I said that with authority but didn’t really say anything? I’m been on CC too long.

SHHHH, don’t argue with a ■■■■■.
