I was recently admitted to UC Davis for the major of Biosystems Engineering but I have been considering switching to Evolution, Ecology & Biodiversity(all one major there), I was just curious as to what careers I could pursue with such a degree? I have always considered teaching, I would just like to do a job that is more hands-on either before on concurrently with teaching. My career goals also lie in wanting to improve the quality of the environment. Anyone have an suggestions on career paths?

You could look at the http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/internships-careers-employment/1121619-university-graduate-career-surveys-4.html to see how students in these majors or similar majors from other schools are doing (UC Davis does not seem to have a career survey on its web site).

According to those career surveys, biology majors have a hard time in the job market.

Not sure about job prospects, but UC Davis is a great school for EEB. We’re ranked third in the US for all Evolutionary Biology programs. You’ll have amazing research opportunities, especially with Bodega Bay offering classes/internships throughout the year and during summer. There’s also Environmental Science and Management which would probably have better job prospects, but you may need a Masters from what I’ve read.

There’s a list of potential jobs here. Not sure how realistic any of those are. University departments tend exaggerate their job prospects.
