Hi,
I'm an incoming freshman who's most likely going to be a non-science major considering taking evolution of the cosmos to knock out my science ge's and because it looks like a cool class. Is it a good cluster to take?
Thanks

I took it fall quarter of my freshman year and it was way too much work for a GE. There’s definitely much easier science GE’s out there like Physics 10, Astro 3, Earthquakes, MCD Bio 50, etc.

Since you completed one quarter, did they still count it as one of your science GEs? I’m awful at science so I’m trying to figure out the easiest way to meet the requirement haha

Yeah I got Life Science with lab GE credit for it, which was weird considering we were learning Astronomy that quarter. I’m not complaining though haha.

Definitely take Astro 3 with Houser. I literally spent no more than an hour studying for each of his midterms and maybe 2-3 hours tops for his final and got a solid A. By far the easiest class I’ve taken at UCLA.

thanks so much!

On Bruinwalk, I can’t seem to find Houser under the Astronomy department. Is he still teaching?

He’s not in the Astronomy department, but in the Physics department. He’s actually a quantum physicist, but for some reason teaches Astro 3. Here’s the bruinwalk link:
