Ick! Who's got bed bugs? Son hasn't mentioned a problem. But, I wonder if he would notice. :p

Last I heard, the only reported cases were in one freshmen dorm.

My mattress was ripped so they gave me a brand new one! But no, no bed bugs in upperclassmen housing.

Agghh! Last year - it was swine flu - now bed bugs! I shudder to think what comes next.

OK, maybe D isn’t missing WFU after graduation quite as much as she thought … :)

My daughter told me last night that they had bedbug dogs go through her dorm (Collins). Now she feels all itchy (in her mind!) and I probably would too!! I quickly pulled up all of the Winston Salem news articles online and it sounds like they are handling it great. They evidently heat them out instead of spraying. Just another thing to worry about when sending a freshman to college!

D said some of the kids who went to the christian pre-school camp brought them back. She requested a dog sniff, as her room mate went to that event, but haven’t heard whether it was done. Big article in NY times orientation week about how endemic BBs are becoming.

Sons lives in Collins - was on the phone with him today when the bed bug dogs came through. His room is clean but next door room has bugs. In fact, he said only 12 rooms on his floor did NOT have bed bugs.

The Dogs are very accurate and it’s a great way to check complicated spaces quickly…

They are nasty and no one likes bugs that sneak up on you at night, but they are less harmful to you (other than your psyche) than mosquitoes… They are are huge pain (and often expensive) to get rid of…

Here is a NPR interview about fear of Bed Bugs. I have not heard it yet but my wife said it was good and she has heard me talk about the wee beasties often enough… Hope it helps…
