I’m super excited to have gotten into GT for ChemE! I’ve seen a lot of very qualified students get deferred/rejected and since I’m still waiting on a few decisions (probs still going to GT), I was wondering what y’all think got me in.

I have also applied to USC, Rice, Cornell, JHU, and Berkeley. Do you think my admission to GT is indicative of my success for other schools?
Your academic record is flawless. Strong test scores and straight As in a solid number of AP classes, plus a college math class. This doesn’t really differentiate you from many other applicants, but it checks the box for academics and removes any doubt that you can succeed in the classroom.
Outside of the academic table stakes that many applicants have, you were also a leader in successful organizations. Admissions loves student leaders, especially when they’re part of successful groups or started something on their own initiative. In addition to doing well academically and being successfully involved as a student leader, you also work, and it sounds like you wrote about that work experience in a compelling way.
In short, solid academics, passionate involvement outside of the classroom (as evidenced by leadership and success), a compelling essay, and juggling all of that with work. That’s a recipe for success, and I’m not at all surprised that you got in. Based on what you posted, you are a strong candidate for all of your other schools as well. I suspect you’ll get into at least some of them.
Congrats, good luck, and I hope you end up as a Yellow Jacket in the fall!
While I think your stats would have got you in either way, I doesn’t hurt to be female when applying to GT. The acceptance rate is a good bit higher than for males (>10%).
You were accepted to GTech because you have an excellent academic and non-academic record. You acceptance to GTech is not indicative of anything, but your academic and non-academic record make you competitive for all the colleges to which you applied.
Had you not been accepted to GTech, I would have said the exact same thing - your record is excellent, and you are competitive for all of those colleges, but all are reaches.
Congratulations! You will be very happy with this choice. Opportunities will abound. You will be in the company of very smart, successful peers from all over the world.
