you could probably get in with good sat scores, but then again you would get capd, 70% of UTs freshman are top 10, so you have about a 30% chance of getting in

sorry…what is Plan II? Could u please explain that to me?

it’s basically liberal arts honors.

so if my school does not rank…what the heck does that mean for me? like the guy who started this, I go to the top school in Houston (some say the state) and have an A average, and a decent resume. SAT at about 2100, but like I said my school just does not rank, so what does that mean for me? Am I screwed too?

^^ Your school in Houston may not rank, but they are required in Texas to provide in their school report (sent to all colleges) the GPA cut-off for the top 10%. So when UT looks at your GPA, it will also look at the 10% cut-off GPA at your school and will then know whether you are in or out of the top 10%. Simple, really.

^ placido240’s explanation applies to those Texas public that have decided to eliminate ranking below the top 10%.

If you go to a pure non-ranking HS (a number of privates don’t rank), UT admissions will assign you an estimated class rank based on your GPA and grade distributions provided by your HS. Talk with your GC about what they’ll be sending in and where you stand. Chances are, UT admissions is very familiar with your non-ranking school and the meaning of your GPA in context.
