Exceeding word requirement in application

I don't know if this has been asked before, but is it okay to exceed the short answer requirement a bit like at most 50 words because I felt that I need to convey my point thoroughly? Will my work be looked upon negatively by the admission committee?

I have usually heard that +10% of the word limit is ok, so for 250 it would be ok up to 275. Not sure how 300 would go over.

What I have heard from info sessions, the admissions website, and a call to their office is that they would ask you to “be reasonable.” The application actually shrinks its font to fit pretty much whatever you type, so I think they might expect people to go a bit over. I set my “reasonable limit” at about 300 words. Just make sure it’s meaningful, and cut out whatever you can :)

Thanks, I think there’s an allowed limit over the word count: when I went crazy like 800 words, it doesn’t allow me to save, but for 300-350, I could still save it. I hope its ok
