Excel@Carolina

Hi everyone, I am OOS and just got a letter inviting me to join Excel@Carolina. It is basically a list of ten different opportunities, and I'm supposed to fill out a survey ranking them by interest, with guaranteed admittance to one or more. Does anyone have more info/experience with this program? One of the choices is Honors Carolina...does this serve as an invitation to possibly join the honors college, or is there a chance that a separate invitation to honors will be coming in the mail? It seems like a very cool program, regardless!

I think that if you mark the Honors College as one of your top choices, they might select you for it… but I’m really not sure. Did the invitation come with your acceptance letter in the mail?

S was accepted and received Excel@Carolina invite by mail today. OOS and no scholarship invite, which is almost a No-No going there

we got the letter too. On the bottom it says they will use the survey responses “to consider you” for these opportunities. It doesn’t say a guaranteed admittance to one or more. Also this is separate from Scholarship info which comes in a separate mailing (which we haven’t received yet)

If I haven’t gotten a scholarship email I probably won’t be getting any mail about it, right?

Haven’t gotten a scholarship email or my acceptance in the mail either…and at the top of the letter mine said you were guaranteed to be accepted to at least one

@pastudent23 did your MyCarolina page say anything about excel carolina invitations before you received the letter in the mail?

@creuland nope, not that I know of

(1) Did you receive Excel@Carolina invite from snailmail or by email?
(2) Did you receive scholars day invite by snailmail or by email?

The Excel invite came by snailmail. I haven’t gotten a scholars day invite either through email or snailmail, sorry for confusion!

I just had a huge amount of snow and my mail was not able to be delivered today. I am OOS. Is it still possible that I might be invited to Excel@Carolina, or should I have gotten an email by now even if I haven’t collected my mail for today?
I haven’t gotten an official acceptance packet yet either.
Also if I haven’t gotten an email for the scholarship program, I can probably safely assume that I’m not being considered for one, right? :frowning: I guess it was sort of a miracle that I got accepted anyway

Excel came snail male today, not in email. Scholarship went out in emails last week. No official acceptance packet for us either. It’s not a miracle; you worked for that :)

I guess so, but it’s still sort of hard to believe since my school has barely sent 2 students to Chapel Hill in the last 5 years. But it’s unlikely that with a scholarship from my state public school that my parents would be ok with me going to UNC without any aid.

Excel@Carolina sounds pretty awesome though, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed that that might happen.

For those who have already recieved notification-- is excel@carolina listed under the invitation section on your mycarolina page?

^this would be very helpful to know

No Excel@carolina is not listed under events in mycarolina

I got this via the mail post today and I live in Florida…I didn’t get my official acceptance letter yet? weird.

So did nobody get notified of Excel@carolina via email? It’s only in the actual mail? I really hope so because I am dying to get invited!

I spoke to someone in admissions today. They said they were told that Excel@Carolina emails will be going out tomorrow.
