Could anyone explain what a 341 is? Who issues them, Why are they issued? What does it mean for a cadet?

Form 341s can be used for negative or positive documentation. Most are negative, as they are usually used for spot corrections (meaning small things that are done wrong) as a means of deterrence. Cadre members or officers/NCOs can give them to basics. In the grand scheme of things, they don't mean a whole lot. A large amount of bad ones tends to indicate a deficiency in the basic, usually in a certain area (i.e. a basic repeatedly does not make his bed correctly). All of these are kept in a cadet's folder throughout their time at the Academy and by themselves don't mean much. However, if a basic or cadet (as they are given out during the school year too, although not nearly as frequently) ends up getting in trouble and it turns out they have a long trail of negative Form 341s, that doesn't look good. Does that clear it up?

My son indicated his was a positive recognition. All is good for now. His letters were up beat. He did say that some basic cadet did something REAL stupid but did not elaborate what the basic did.
