Excellent universities, Low SAT scores.Help!

Hello, So I just saw my may SAT scores and I got 1400 :'( and now I am really depressed cause I dont know if I'm going to US to study now, but now I want to know what universities accept that score and I want to add that my gpa is excellent it is 91% approximately my TOEFL is 90+ and I have decent amount of E.A.
So what EXCELLENT uni's do you recommend me to apply to and are there any UC that MAY accept me with these scores?
Thanks for your help.
P.S:The major I intend to study is biomedical engineering or something close.

Is that 1400/1600(Math+CR) or 1400 Total? And will you be needing scholarships and/or financial aid?

1400 total
and I think I will not be needing financial aid

you really should retake and boost those scores, man. i remember seeing a dude somewhere around these forums who got into Boston College with 1580, but he had a lot of hooks (and was URM). I doubt the UCs would accept that score…

Syrian Guy,there are many good schools that will accept you, especially state publics. The good news for you is that you don’t need aid, which means you basically have a billion options.Start by googling schools that do not require the SAT and start from there. Many schools actually only require TOEFL from intl students,so you’ll be totally fine.

Do the SAT Blue Book
In CC there are a lot of SAT guides here
If you can get above 2000+ there would be a lot of good state and private unis that would take you :)

Look at Bates College… and other SAT optional colleges…

I don’t know what you mean by EXCELLENT - do you mean schools with international reputations? Ranked Top 20? If so, that SAT score will probably be too low. Do study and retake. But as others said, if you do not need financial aid and can pay the approximate $50,000/year tuition, there are many good and very good schools that will be happy to accept you.

There are some high-ranked colleges that don’t ask for SAT scores. From what I can gleam online, there’s Bowdoin, Connecticut College, Dickinson, Hampshire, and Mount Holyoke, just to name a few. I know for a fact Wake Forest doesn’t ask for SAT scores, either.

well I think its better to study hard in the summer and redo the SAT, do thanks for for your advice because I would love to go to any UC.

Last year 56 of the 2,322 international UC admits had total SAT scores below 1500. So you are not a hopeless case!

If you get bored, you could play with the UC Stat Finder and find out exactly which campuses they got accepted to.

A note on some SAT-Optional colleges: they may require SATs for international students.

Well, Merced and Riverside could potentially accept you if you write some excellent essays and have strong extracurricular activities. I’d focus on bringing your scores up, though.

I also recommend looking at some of the CSUs (the other Californian public university system).

TheSyrianGuy
you should definitely retake it.
