Is anyone else recieving inordinate amounts of mail from Wellesley? Yesterday I got a huge tube with a poster in it. The day before I got a big course catalogue. I keep getting mail and email from a lacrosse coach, and from someone in the alumni association... Is this Wellesley's way of appealing to applicants? It seems like an expensive and somewhat silly method...

i kinda like Wellesley's attention.

I didn't get a huge poster yet, but I'm actually having fun looking through the catalogue. I just got a full page handwritten card from the person(asso. director of admissions) who read my app today.

If Wellesley's purpose is to pursuade me to consider it seriously, then it's def. working..lol..

p.s.- Hmm.. I think a lot of other colleges also do it for their accepted students. I keep getting a lot of mails from the other school that I got into.

I was JUST about to start the same thread!

I've gotten 6 letters so far...

I was not shocked to find another bit of mail a couple minutes ago when I got home. I am enjoying the attention, though I think the poster was a bit much. I liked the catalogue, especially the part that lists where the professors went to school. Does every harvard graduate teach at wellesley!?

Awww, I didn't get a poster :(.

I want one!

I did get the hand written card today though.

i feel way left out now! i haven't gotten anything :( you think they're only sending GOOD mail to those who they know already got in? ugh. feeling hopeless again p.s. I want a poster, too! hey, how about a letter even!

xaguamelonx, did you apply early evaluation? I think they might be sending all this stuff to anyone who apply EE and got a likely letter? All the letters I've gotten have mentioned EE, so that might be why.

aww... i see... well in that case, haha, nevermind. maybe I should have applied EE. meh... congrats to everyone then! :)

me too!!! phishfan did you reply to the email from the lacrosse coach? Because I got it too and I don't want to reply, even though I do want to play, because I'm not 100% sure about going there.
And yes!! It's nice to get college mail that is significant yet at the same time not a matter of ACCEPTANCE or REJECTION

yeah, i've been getting a lot of mail too. the attention is nice!

I just got a handwritten letter from a student with her email address in case I had questions. They certainly are good at making me feel wanted- a much needed change after my ED rejection.

Hi everyone... I realize I'm a bit late here... but, yes, I have also received everything mentioned (hand-written card from rep, letter from student, poster, course catalog.) And like elizabeth22 said, it's really nice to get the attention, especially after my other not-so-postive experience in December! And Wellesly is becoming more and more appealing to me as the days go by. I also wanted to say a belated congrats to everyone on the board who has gotten a likely letter. Maybe I'll be meeting some of you if I go up on the Open House weekend!

Congrats to you too aliasaholic! Since you've brought it up, is anybody going to the Open House weekend?

I'm planning on it- I just found out it's during my spring break, which awesome, because I shouldn't be missing school before AP exams.

That's great elizabeth22! My spring break is during the first week of April, but the Open House will be during WASL week (WA's assessment testing), which is awesome for me because it's not like seniors have to do anything. I guess that it kind of sucks since I will be missing review time for AP exams, but studying and prepping for AP is so far in the back of my mind right now... Agh, second semester of senior year really sucks. :-)

Oh yeah, so I think I might go. I'm trying to convince my parents into staying for a couple of extra days so that we can check out Boston College too, but we'll see...

So how's it work? Do we stay overnight at the school, or get hotels, or what? It was mentioned in my EE letter but there weren't really details.

does anyone know if ED acceptees are invited? i haven't gotten any info and i'm feeling left out:)

Hmm... good question. I'm sure that all of the details will be included with the actual invitation (if they even send one), but I'm assuming that we'll be able to stay overnight on campus. Right? I hope so.

I don't know if ED acceptees are invited, but I would think that they would be. I guess we'll just have to wait until they send us more info because I'm an EE "likely," but I haven't heard anything more than what is written on my letter. I'm guessing that we'll hear more about it in the beginning of April.

(A student from Wellesley called my house earlier, but I was out watching a movie. She left my dad her # and email address so maybe I'll contact her later and ask for all of us.)

I realize this topic has been thoroughly exhausted in the "Likely Letter" thread, but I'm still slightly confused: A Likely letter does mean that you're in, right? I mean, in the letter I got from the rep, she said "I hope to see you in the Class of 2009"... is that an indication that I'm in? Because I seem to recall (and I could be totally wrong about this, LOL,) that there were a few posts about how some EE Likelys were rejected? For those of you who have gotten the letters from the reps, have they been worded similarly?
