Exchange - 1 semester

Does anyone know how procedure goes with this ? If I dont have obligations on my own college, pay it myself, can I go to exchange somewhere in US and pick classes myself ?
I guess I'd get perimision from my own college, but don't know do I need still to take SAT? Probably not, right ? TOEFL probably yes ?

Find out if your home institution has any experience with this. There may be formal agreements in place that you can take advantage of, or there may be an office that can help you find out about other options. You also should contact each of the institutions that you are interested in, and ask about what would be required in order to arrange a “guest semester” there.

Most universities (at least the ones I know) admit non-degree-seeking or visiting students. The admission procedures vary, as do the academic restrictions that this status carries. A few examples:

Visa restrictions might make matters a bit more complicated. A quick Google search revealed that most visiting programs either don’t admit international students at all or require a guarantee that the credits will transfer to the student’s home university.
