I'm currently enrolled in linguistics and I've discovered that another class that I want to exchange ling with is waitlisted. I tried going on the list at URSA just adding the class on without exchanging it since I don't want to lose my spot in the linguistics class, but it wouldn't let me go over 19 units. So, should I just drop linguistics and wait it out for the other class?
Also, can anyone tell me how enrolling in the class after being waitlisted works? Because the course listing says that anyone that doesn't attend the first and second meeting of class gets dropped. Does that mean I have to (or can I) attend the class as well, without being on the waitlist if I want to enroll in the class?
Another scenario would be for me to hope and wait until the class opens before dropping linguistics and enrolling in the class. But then, that would run in conflict with the professor wanting everyone enrolled to attend the first two days of class.
So, suggestions please?

don’t drop anything. there’s no point to dropping a class now, you have until friday of 2nd week to do that with no penalties. so you lose nothing by staying in your ling class.

also, did you use the actual “exchange class for another” function on ursa? you don’t need to drop and readd a new class. that button will only work if you can get into your second class. if you cannot get into it, ursa will not drop you from the first class. since the class you want is only waitlisted as opposed to closed, you should be able to enroll using the exchange function.

if you can’t get into the actual class by the first meeting, just go to it anyway. talk to the professor. most likely people will get dropped or will drop on their own, or you might get a PTE number. either way, just show up to the first meeting and talk with them or email them. people schedule-juggle all the time, no big deal.

dont drop just keep refreshing registrar
