Did everyone receive this letter?

Dear ______
I am pleased to acknowledge that we have received your application for admission to the University of Pennsylvania and want to share some exciting news with you. As an applicant to Penn you will have the option of receiving your final admissions decision online in addition to receiving a letter by mail.

Is this for all applicants? a little mean to send this and then a rejection letter 2 weeks later? thats not so exciting...

What's the exciting news? Is it just info about the school?

I think they mean the admission decisions?

because after that they have your UserID and Password and tell you when to check etc

i got the same letter when i applied ED......i was deferred :(

My son got the same letter on March 1'08 and an interview on March 8.

I got that letter. Honestly I think it was just meant to be a vehicle for the username/password or "UserID/PassCode" or whatever they call it. I wouldn't read into the verbiage because I'm pretty sure everyone gets the mailing, or else they wouldn't have a means of checking their decision.

Yeah I got one too haha
I'm sure it's just a standard letter format..

^^^ rofl nice name elisaxbanana

i think this may well means good final admission decision or at least the admission is very probable, otherwise the word "exciting" is nonsense

My son never got that letter.... Is that bad news for him?

I think it is just standard boilerplate text. I got that for ED and got deferred.

are you sure that your ED letter is exacly the same one? with the Dean's signature from a blue pen? if every applicant get this letter, i think the Dean are unable to sign so much letters....almost 20000 letters....

I think they just use a really good color printer for the dean's sig in blue ink. That makes it seem authentic and personal.

i got the same thing ED..got deferred doesn't mean anything

i got it too. they send the same one to everyone..

I got it too. It's not a likely letter, which is what I thought it was at first. It's just standard issue. The exciting news is merely that you can check your decision online.

My son did not get it. However, I went online to see if we were registered and we were.

I wonder if it was sent to candidates who had not signed up for the notification.......

Just a thought.

got it too. i think they aer jsut excited to tell everyone that they can check their decisions online -_-"
haha

haha, it seems that this is an American way of exaggerating!

And…..Darn the autopen………………..
