Exempting ENGR103 a good idea?

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but can someone please point me to where it says students who have taken cal I & II are except from ENGR 103?
Thanks

dser89 - It’s nowhere to be found on UA’s site, right?! This has been discussed at BB sessions, and should be included in the paperwork that you get at BB. In the meantime, contact your student’s advisor in the CofEng’g: [Advising - Undergraduate Students - The College of Engineering - The University of Alabama](http://eng.ua.edu/undergraduate/advising/) Be sure and post back here if you ever find an actual link to this info online!

Bumping – Did anyone ever find the exemption in writing anywhere?

DS schedule is a bit overwhelming with back to back classes in buildings on different sides of campus, so he is now revisiting and dropping this class or changing majors is on the table.

He is at OA this week and has no time to speak with his advisor, but he will e-mail her. Just thought the smart folks here could find out before then.

Given that he is in OA, I would yourself as the parent contact the advisor this week for advice. This is not too helicopter-ish, IMO, esp since you are a future aero-parent, correct? (Sorry, could not resist the pun.)

See if you still have any of the paperwork from Bama Bound, that is where we saw it in writing. I will look to see if I still have it, but I don’t think so.

Longhaul - I would recommend having him set up an appointment with his advisor for Monday (or even Tuesday). Personally, I would never call his advisor myself.

You may also want to look up his classes and see if he can switch sections around to make the schedule easier. I’ve noticed a number of section openings this week.

Thanks all.

Advising office won’t speak to me even though I think it is more of a general question…

@Class 2012Mom – He has looked out the schedule and had me look to see if he missed anything, nothing works. He even looked to drop Chemistry and take Physics (since no lab schedule), but that still doesn’t do it. He has 3 courses that are only offered once, so he has little flexibility. And of course, the easiest course to drop isn’t in the time crunch areas…

I know OA was done early today because of weather, so hoping he made a call today to set up an appointment or at least sent e-mail.

@Lisa6191 – Do you know if it shows on your son’s DegreeWorks that he needs the class? I know Degree Works is a “guideline”, but DS was concerned b/c it doesn’t show as not needed on there.

Longhaul - you can make an engineering advising appointment online

[Advising - Undergraduate Students - The College of Engineering - The University of Alabama](http://eng.ua.edu/undergraduate/advising/)

Longhaul - I just looked and DegreeWorks says that my son still needs ENGR 103 as well as CS 121, both of which he is supposedly exempt from. I’m assuming he will work it out with his advisor at some point. He’d better, because he isn’t taking them. :)

DegreeWorks likely hasn’t been updated with the course exemptions.

With your son’s permission, you can email the advisor form his account and sign the email with his name as many administrative assistants do on a daily basis. The advisor may even be able to get everything squared away via email or phone.

I found the sheet from Bama Bound that gave the exemption for ENGR 103. I scanned it, but how do I post it here?

Use Google Docs?

That would require knowing how to use Google Docs. I will try to figure it out.

does this work?

Yep! You’re a pro now!

Thanks Lisa!
