Exemption from housing at CPP?

So I recently got admitted into Cal Poly Pomona for Aerospace Engineering and I accepted my admission. Turns out, you have to live on campus your first year. I will still be going to the school, but I need exemption cause I have to live at home cause my parents want me to. My dad needs to write a personal letter under the “other” category of exemption to convince them. I was wondering if any of you had experience doing this and what reason you used for a successful exemption?

One I have in mind is I have to eat Halal food and they dont have that on campus but I feel like that is not enough…and any reason I give needs proof, so am I supposed to prove my religion orrrr??

Any help is appreciated!

You can explain that you live close to campus & dorming would be inconvenient. And how it would be a financial strain. Too expensive. Etc. Don’t bring up eating halal, they have a million options. I’m Muslim, colleges have food options for everyone. No need to bring that up or your religion. Just any other actual reasons (distance, money). Call them and ask about exemption if you want more details

@potato16 Dang idk what else to use:(

Just say you’re close enough and that it’s too expensive, making it very inconvenient.

Idk if they’ll accept that they are strict with this stuff but will see…

If you received a need based grant that may be reduced if you live at home, since the cost will be lowered.

@TomSrOfBoston what does that mean?

In determining your financial need the college factored in the cost of living in a dormitory. If you live at home the cost of attendance is reduced and you financial aid will be reduced.

I wasn’t offers aid really just loan which I won’t use
