Exeter admissions and repeating a grade with new yield

Hey all!

I am currently in Sophomore year. Last year, I applied to Exeter and didn’t get in. I applied as a sophomore. I felt as if I did not want to repeat Freshman year. I’m much more okay with repeating the Sophomore year. I will be applying to most schools this year to repeat Sophomore year (this current school year). But… Exeter’s incoming class this year had a super high yield rate. Making their 2022 class quite full. If I apply to repeat a sophomore year, I would be entering that same 2022 class. I know typically people repeat since it is easier to get in, but does the yield of this class change that? Will I have better odds just applying as a junior and sticking with my 2021 graduation class?

If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be greatly appreciated!
