Exeter, Andover, and Culver

Do you think I have a chance in any one these schools?

I'm applying for 10th grade.

I have had straight A's in middle school and now in high school.

I am in Student Council, Theater, GSA, and going to join Robotics and Tennis.

I was in track before.

I've won attendance and honor roll awards and won math and science awards.

I'm working on the SSAT, and I think I'll get a decent score.

how decent? get at least an 80% and DO NOT procastinate on essays

if decent is 90 or above, then you are fair game, honestly.
of course you have a leg up on the "average" students who apply without anything too oustanding and such,

but work on your essays. they are your insight. it represents you as a whole, and that is something that grades and extracurriculars cannot symbolize for you

EDIT; I thought "culver" was "choate" lol basic logic but you will more likely get into culver than andover or exeter

If you get into exter you will almost always get into culver. I would say your chances at culver are favorable and your chances at E/A are fair.

The more people comment these chances thread the more you have to realize... We arn't the school we don't know what individuals they want to add to their community.

I am applying to Exeter and Andover plus some other schools...

I'm not so sure about Andover, but Exeter is a possiblity. I am currently attending Culver and I'm almost positive you'll get in.

isnt culver the military school in indiana?

Well . . . yes, but it is Culver Academies. Academies because they have basically two schools in one Culver Military Academy (CMA- for the boys) and Culver Girls Academy (CGA- for the girls). It isn't really separated though I mean we have class together and share a campus, though we have separate dorms and barracks and sports teams are of course split up.
I would encourage you to go to Culver, but I am biased. I love it here. The classes are surprisingly interesting (except for info. lit- worst class ever!) and the people are wonderful. The campus is gorgeous and being on the lake provides other opportunities (sailing, rowing, random lake swims).

Thanks for all the information!

No problem. :)

culver seems like a great school for boys, it teaches them to be outstanding. Im not real sure how academically challenging it is for girls nor how extensive their finanical aid is. however they do offer rolling admissions, merit scholarships and have an impressive sports related alumni list and from what our guide said their own golf course and private airport

The academics are identical (the classroom part of the day is fully integrated). Because of their size, their course offering is as big (or bigger) than anything found in NE. Their FA is reasonably generous from people I know whose children are there on FA. They do have merit aid (Batten Scholarships), but if you look at the resumes of the past winners, you will find that they would be top candidates at any of the top NE schools.
