So recently (like, today), I got an email from my school chamber music teacher (with a forwarded email from the competition directors) and he said that me and my chamber group were one of the winners of a competition and we would get to perform in Lincoln Center. I just wanted to know:
Should I inform Exeter and Andover about this?
and how do I do that (I know I’m going to email them, but I don’t have any proof that I won besides the email and I’m not sure how believable that is…)
I’m not sure how any of us could know what any given piece information means in the context of a candidate’s entire file. Personally, I would forward the email. How big is the group in which you play?
We have often been told, “feel free to update us.” While you don’t want to abuse it, I think one quick email could hardly be an imposition.
I might put " chosen to play at Lincoln center " or somesuch in the subject line … Then they don’t even have to read it, they get the gist.
I would inform them. To Exeter, I would use the same email that I sent the application materials. To Andover, I would both send an email and also add it on Gateway. What’s to loose? At the worst it will only show your enthusiasm. Maybe your music teacher can give you something to send them. If not, you could forward that email from your music teacher.
