Exeter Dorm Room Setup

Hi, I’m an incoming prep at Exeter this Fall, and I was wondering what a double and single dorm room looks like. Are there closets? How big is it? What are some things that I should bring related to my dorm room? What is it like living with a roomate?

This depends greatly on the dorm. There are some dorms where the singles are bigger than a double in a different dorm. There are closets in every dorm that I know of. Kiddo brought bedding, towels, fan, posters, door mirror, hamper, small vacuum, paper towels, desk lamp.

Each room has a desk, bookshelf, desk lamp (that kiddo put in the basement because he liked his better), a charging tower, Christmas lights and command hooks.

@jade234 as referenced above each room will have a closet for each student. However, some dorms have traditional closets and some have an armoire style. Once dorm assignments come out, you should be able to get more information about your particular layout. New students traditionally have some of the least desirable rooms because returning students have room selection through lottery before they leave in the spring. Living with a roommate has its ups and downs, but if you both set clear expectations - you will be fine.

Yeah, generally, you will have a less desirable rooms since the returners get to pick before you. Nonetheless, having a roommate your first year is great thing as you have a potential friend right across from you. You MUST work out morning alarm clocks. I have friends who would wake up his roommate, making him very angry, at 6:30 AM to get breakfast. For cleanliness, just focus on making your side of the room as neat as possible. Plus, it will help you out in the long run because before going on break, your room HAS to be spotless.
