Exeter Dorms for Girls.

Exeter dorms for girls?
How do dorms work for Exeter 9th graders?
Do you have any choice as a 9th grader?
Which are the "best"?
Have the most singles? Doubles? Biggest rooms?
Can you request a single?
Who is the nicest resident family and which dorm do they live in?
Do they place all the jocks in one dorm? math whizzes in another dorm? ect...

Any info appreciated?

btw. when I visited exeter i saw the girls dorms and doubles areactually two rooms... is this with all the dorms?

From a parent - you are assigned a dorm sometime during the summer. They don't send a questionaire. Every kid there thinks their dorm is the "best." The resident families are all nice. The dorms are mixed up, they don't segregate jocks and math whizzes into dorms of their own.

I don't understand your last question. I think all the preps are initially assigned doubles - or in some cases triples.

How do dorms work for Exeter 9th graders?
Erm... well you go there. Work. Sleep. Joke... erm, and be a prep? Dorms aren't exclusive based on grade, nor are floors depending on what dorm you are placed in. Dorms such as Merrill/Langdell have their girls regardless of grade on all different floors but Wentworth/McConnell have the youngest people on the top floors and so on.

Do you have any choice as a 9th grader?
To some extent, I suppose. I know some people who requested singles, or a certain dorm. Those who didn't are usually pretty happy though, so if you don't have a strong preference I would just let the people who decide place you where they see fit. I'm in a dorm where all of the people are really close and I don't really meld with them. We get along, but they are my best friends. It doesn't bother me. So, morale of that story is that all will be good.

Which are the "best"?
It changes every year. I mean... the worst is probably considered to be Lamont. But I mean, shouldn't you be making your dorm the best/worst, not your dorm making you the best/worst?

Have the most singles? Doubles? Biggest rooms?
I really don't know every dorm that much... McConnell is ALL singles (except I think a senior suite) but have TINY rooms. I don't know... I could go on but it would be really boring. Every dorm has it's ups and downs, don't let room size make you biased. If you have a small room it makes for a fun roomie experience (if you have a room mate.)

Can you request a single?
...Yeah, if you want. I mean, consider the ups and downs to a single before you request anything.

Who is the nicest resident family and which dorm do they live in?
I don't know... why do you want to know? I don't think resident families are what make/breaks a dorm.

Do they place all the jocks in one dorm? math whizzes in another dorm? ect...
Nope, everyones intermixed.

btw. when I visited exeter i saw the girls dorms and doubles areactually two rooms... is this with all the dorms?
Nope, infact, this is pretty uncommon. Usually if you have a room mate, there is one room.

thnks photoOp and sportincourty... hhaaha I know some of these questions are dumb... but I thought they would be good basic questions.

oh..
and with the second to last question.
jocks in one dorm, math nerd in another,
if you're more the academic person, then they place you on north side, with all the academic buildings.
if you're more sportsy, they put you on south side, with the gym.
and then the rest go on south side middle area..

but it's not that badly sorted...

and yes. Lamont is the worst dorm. Tiny rooms, with the same number of people as other dorms. For example, wheelwright (i'm currently residing in wheelwright) has five more people, but has a far larger building and has two common rooms one four times the size of the one in lamon, and another twice the size.. :)

but lamont is a really close dorm. Some of my close friends live there :)

Where is Lamont?

Lamont is behind the Science Center, next to the Health center. It's a slightly awkward place, but only slightly because it's across from where the Academy Center is, which houses most of the student activities.
