Exeter Email Account and Courses

Has anybody else gotten their email yet? For some reason mine wasn't working.
Should I register for courses early, so that all the good ones aren't taken, because course registration starts at 8:30 and I have school?

Wait, urbanflop, did you get your email in an email (harhar)? Because I haven’t gotten anything, no. Also, how did you know that course registration starts at 8:30 (Monday?)?

But yes, you should definitely register as soon as possible. Homg, if course registration starts Monday at 8:30…I’m screwed, because I haven’t considered courses at all, haha. I thought we’d be with an advisor who’d guide us through it.

Although you wouldn’t be able to register early if you have school the time it starts D:

Are you using the right username and password (the ones you used for your lion links application)? If so, I’d just wait a few days–my son’s didn’t work for about 24 hours–or e-mail the dean’s office and ask.

Don’t worry, though–everyone registers at the same time, and it doesn’t happen until the end of April. This registration info. mostly concerns placement in language, math, and music. Best to just start thiinking about what one elective you want each term–there’s not really much to register for if you’re coming in as a prep.

Oh geeez. I’ll be a new upper and will DEFINITELY need an adviser to help me guide through picking my classes. D: I don’t think they’ve even received my contract in the mail and stuff.

Once they recieve your contract then they send you an email. The email contains instructions on how to make your academy email and when course registration starts. Course registration begins April 26 (which is a Monday) and yes Metallika, new Uppers meet with temporary advisors before they choose their courses.

I reread the email and found out that it won’t start working for 2-3 days, but thanks for the advice. However, after the email has been set-up they send you more emails to your new Exeter email tellling you how to register for courses on Blackboard and your Blackboard password and username.

Actually, my son’s email started working earlier–so keep checking! And they only sent one e-mail to that address, with the access info. for Blackboard–all the other info. is on Blackboard.

Thanks for all the information! Everybody should feel free to add more.

Hmm, I’m a new upper unsure about courses. I emailed my advisor and asked him if it was advisable to take two science courses in one year. He said that I should be wary. I think I want to call him, but what would be the best time? Do you know if Exeter is back in session on Tuesday?

musisat: I think you might want to try a lighter load your first year, unless you are absolutely sure that you’re up to the challenge. It is EXETER, after all! Just check the site for information on the school’s schedule.

On a sidenote and for the sake of not creating a new thread, when does Andover do all this? I haven’t gotten anything about email accounts, much less course registration! (sorry, Exies, for invading this thread, haha)

I think you should ask TomtheCat. He has been on lately and knows everything about Andover.

Haha, of course! Thanks. :)

musisat: yes Exeter offices / classes resume on Tuesday. They are off Monday for a long weekend.

I can take 5 normal classes plus a music and an athletic class per term, right? I think that a science class wouldn’t necessarily be harder than other classes. I already took introductory bio, chem, and physics and my school, so I think I have enough background, I hope.

I want to take 2 sciences next year too. I’ve already taken physical science (half year chemistry and half year physics), Chemistry, Biology, and AP Biology. I’m taking AP US History this year so hopefully I will be able to substitute an extra science class for history.

You guys shouldn’t have to skip out and register for courses [unless you’re coming in as a PG] because mostly preps are set for what courses they need to take, and those courses aren’t THAT popular.

If you’re coming in as a senior or a PG, or maybe even an upper, you should definitely skip school and register b/c there are SO many awesome courses only available for uppers and seniors.

also, taking two sciences is a bit harsh on your schedule. That means you’re going to have two classes that meet five times a week, and that means less free time. Oh, and you probably won’t be able to take any electives… >.<
I’d consider doing double science AFTER you’ve had a year of Exeter.

What do you mean by no electives?

She means if you double up on a subject, the period you would use to take electives is filled with the other subject.

Oh duh. I have a nice two-year schedule figured out so it theoretically works with all the classes I want to take.

@musisat: You should be assigned an academic advisor to help you with the course selection… [my new upper friend did… >.<] I guess he/she will tell you about stuff… but meh, I still don’t suggest that.

Musisat did u get in as a junior? Wow congrats I heard it’s really difficut to get in as a junior
