Hi everyone I'm new.

Does Exeter require a writing sample as part of the application? ("corrected and graded by a teacher")

This is no substitute for getting information directly...or from someone trustworthy who knows for sure...but, to help ease your mind until you get confirmation: LAST YEAR Exeter did NOT REQUIRE a graded and corrected paper from your current school.

Another question about the Exeter application. In the student essay part of the application it says:

Mail this form along with the typewritten copy to Phillips Exeter Academy, in the envelope provided, postmarked by January 15, 2008.

I'm downloading the application from the internet, and never received an application package from them, so they never provided me with an evelope. Can I just send it in my own?

It's January 13 and I think it would be just awful and I would weep if your application just sat on your desk another two or three days for want of an envelope that wasn't provided by the school...

I have to send mine in a DHL/Fed-Ex package anyway. Will they let me off, or whatever, because of that? I know it's not a big deal, but I'm paranoid.

If a school rejects your application because you didn't use the "approved" envelope...then I doubt you'd want to make that school your home-away-from-home. So consider it a favor. Think of it as a little test for them!

Haha, alright. Thanks for the reassurance :)

oh, that's what i did too.
i just used a big brown envelope with the written address
i thought if i used tiny envelopes for ea. package it would be too much work for them to get each of the letters and sort them out..
