i'm guessing students that have a distance problem from exeter are taking the placement tests once they get there right?
will the people who've already taken their test go to class while we take the test?

never mind..i'm getting the impression that the placement test is mailed..haha ignore my stupid question =)

No I don't think the different departments coordinate their tests. Sometimes people don't get a placement test if the math dep. can immediately tell from your past math classes that you need to go into the 100's or the Transition 1 classes.

I was freaking out because I spent 2 hours on it and left like 4 of the 15 problems on it blank. And I'm best at math out of everyone in my grade at my current school, so that made me start worrying about math at Exeter.

cglen - people are in different classes; some people took algebra, geometry, or algebra II, so the questions vary according to how much they want to test you

This placement test is very important. The Exeter program is incredibly unique -- and favorably looked upon as many schools are sending teachers there to observe and copy its format.

You will never see more peculiar classes about what appears to be the same topic -- but it is not.

Trust me on two things:

You will all be floored about the math when you get there. It is tough.

You will thrive on it once you get the knack of it.

And, when you go to college, you will miss it.

Harkness table and math is a very unique experience at this presitigous school.

hey. has anybody been placed in a math class yet? i know for spanish they have already placed people, like when you go on to lionlinks and click on my academic year (or something like that), it says what classes you are in. has your math class showed up yet? or does it still say math placement?

i got an email from the math department to my exeter email containing the link to the test probably about 3 weeks ago. its been a while. but not everyone has to take a placement test. i know i did cause i didnt score too well on the ssat math portion, but im in a high math class at my school with an A, so they werent sure where to place me. but if everything they got tells them the same thing, then they probably wont give you a placement test.
