Can someone explain how Exeter's school day works? It's my understanding that sports are after luch and classes follow until about 6:00, but I'm not sure and a tad bit confuzzled. When is homework time? Also, how often are Saturday classes? Thanks!

my son has sports most/ all afternoons from about 3 until 6, classes are during the day before hand. He sometimes has down time during the day which he sometimes uses for studying.

He studies at night (after dinner and anything else between 6 and 8 checkin]and will wake up an hour early if he needs the time.

He has a relatively heavy load this year as a lower in that he chose some advanced science and math classes

There are very few saturday classes this year, they reduced them from years past. I think he has had one or two since september, and i think no more are scheduled.

Agree with kidsparent. In the winter, my kid’s sport is sometimes earlier in the day because they need to be outside and it gets dark early, so then he’ll have a class or two in that 3-6 time slot. In addition to the hours kidsparent describes, he’ll study during free block during the day (free blocks become more frequent as the years pass) and gets a lot of his bigger assignments done on the week-end.

8-10PM is official study time, but many students use free periods scattered in their daily schedule, time after dinner and on weekends, and mornings before class to study too.

sports vary in how much time they take, (the competitions usually use up a lot of time travelling, on JV and varsity sports), while other PE options may leave more free time.

There are only a few Saturdays during the year when there are classes, mostly in the fall.
