Does anybody have experience with either of the above schools?
I don't think I will be getting into any of the school I applied to, but I just want to learn a little more about them.

Well, my friend got accepted into both Exeter and Deerfield for her sophomore year. Though Exeter was a more prestigious and better-known school, she chose to go to Deerfield because that’s where she felt at home. I don’t have firsthand experience with either of the schools, but I thought this could help you out a little.

thanks for replying!!
at the tour and interview i felt more at home at deerfield, and everybody was incredibly friendly and happy, at exeter everybody seemed kinda stressed and not as happy as those at deerfield.

Ditto. After our visits last year at PEA and DA, my son and I felt all warm and fuzzy about DA and cold and distant from PEA, for what all of that is worth. We know that Exeter has more currency than DA in the popular mind (all of which may be well earned). Still, we preferred Deerfield over Exeter as a place to live and learn. (Today, my son attends Hotchkiss, which is in many ways a lot like Deerfield in size, location and student profile.)

However we just have the opposite feeling of Deerfield. Last year when we visited the school, no one was in the reception area, the tour guide was a chinese (same here), she was speaking so fast that we couldn’t hear what she was talking about, the interviewer seemed to be very impatience, the coach was supposed to meet us which was already scheduled before but he didn’t …anyway, everything looked wierd and cool, we didn’t have any feeling of friendly, happy or warm. I guess their admission dept was not very well-organised, we even received some letters with other people’s name and address, I think they made a serious mistake and posted it to the wrong address. Yet in Exeter, we felt like going back to our home, everyone we met was nice and comfortable, the staff in the bookstore, the interviewer was nice and friendly though he was not Michael Gary, and we met another admission officer somewhere in the campus area and he talked to us, wishing us good luck and hoped to see us again in April (revisit days)… S is now a sophomore in PEA, he is very happy and very much enjoying his school life though there is some hard time as some other people used to say “stressful” here, but he overcomes it and learns and becoming more mature and independent, that’s why he always tell other people and say : “EXETER IS THE BEST” !

thanks for all the different perspectives.
even though I am a long shot for both of these schools, if i ever have to choose between them I will probably revisit each and figure out which is going to be a better experience for me.
