Exeter vs. Lawrenceville?

Which one is better? Did anyone else get in? Any advice? It's going to be a hard decision...

I got into Exeter, it’s, as I’m sure you know, a fabulous school. I really don’t know anything about Lawrenceville, I suggest attending revisits.

Revisit. Both are good schools, depends on the person, yada yada. Perhaps this should wait until other applicants with less fortunate options have time to heal. I personally was not an applicant this year, but still, empathy is a virtue.

Thanks I got wait listed in all my other schools tho… I got wait listed at Choate and Milton and PDS

Thanks @exeterbunny @ThisOneKid

At Exeter, you will sometimes have class at 6 p.m. Go to Exeter if that’s your kind of thing.

I got accepted to L’ville. I didn’t apply to Exeter, though I considered it. I decided not to apply because I felt a very cold environment there. I also have a family friend who went there (really nice guy) and he told me that he hated it because all they care about is the numbers, and not who you are as a person.
Sorry to be so negative to towards Exeter. I’m sure it’s a great school, but I’m not a “preppy” or “prestigious” person, so it just wasn’t the right fit for me.
L’ville, though, might be. I still wonder if it’s too preppy as well lol

Same. Exeter didn’t feel right for me.

Not bashing on Exeter here, great school, but L’ville’s house system makes it feel like family, I hear. More close knit.

You know what the schools’ stats are, so it all boils down to where you think you might be happier. Fit. Fit. Fit. This place will be your home for the nxt few years, not just a classroom. It’s such a personal decision.

Logistics are a consideration, too. Having to traverse NYC traffic is a big headache!

Revisit.

Wow ok guys so far I think I’m leaning towards Lawrenceville

That may be because of a lack of Exeter representation on this thread  I can’t claim to be an expert, having had no experience living there, but it seems to me that Exeter is a fairly closeknit community within the dorms and sports teams. Beyond that, maybe not, but I sort of like that. I love the formal dress code, I love all school assemblies, I love Harkness, I love brick buildings, I love Exeter. It’s literally a perfect match for me. I work best under pressure and I can handle intense academics. If you don’t think you’re the right type of person for Exeter, don’t go, because you won’t enjoy it. But don’t base your decision off of a couple of people who do not attend and didn’t apply (no offense guys! Exeter isn’t right for you, and it’s very mature that you recognized that) make that decision for you. You need to think about which school fits you best, not which school has the least amount of bashing on here.

Lol ok then @exeterbunny hmmmm… I’m gonna think abt it

Please pick Exeter @swimmergurlz! It’ll be so much fun haha

To decide on a school you need to revisit and ask questions about specific things that are important to you. A general where should I go to a board of people you really know nothing about is NOT going to lead to a good decision. I know you’re giddy with excitement right now, so just enjoy…but then come down to earth and think more specifically about what you’re looking for and use that good brain that got you into those schools to figure out which one is best for you.

I don’t believe Exeter is more “preppy” than L’ville. I actually have a feeling that compared with Exeter, L’ville is the home of more kids from “rich and powerful” family background. (What do you think, MBV?). That’s not the right “angle” to look at these two schools. In general, I think they are more similar than different. “Culturally”, L’ville may have a higher concentration of NYC kids while Exeter more NE kids, which may make some nuanced differences? Now that Exeter doesn’t have Saturday classes any more, the two schools are becoming even more similar.

Exeter will have more Saturday classes next year, actually, but Exeter is extremely diverse in every aspect and that is one of the factors that drew me to the school.

Ok this is just getting more complicated lol @needtpboard

At Lawrenceville I’ll be a day student while at Exeter I have an option to be either

If they r similar then HOW AM I GOONG TO CHOOSE? @Benley
