received another letter/email today; "We will not be offering any spots at this time,...you may wish to stay on the waitlist through August,...if you have taken another "choice" please inform us."
Has anyone else received the latest from Exeter???

what grade are you?

Received the same email (but not letter) today. It's strange how the email/letter mentioned little attrition of returning students, knowing that I am applying for 9th grade in which there will be no returning students... except for people that failed 9th grade?

They probably just wrote a single letter and sent it to everyone on the waitlist, regardless of grade.

We got it too!

Exeter is still accepting late applications for eleventh grade twelfth grade, so they probably sent it to ninth and tenth grade applicants on the WL.

So, even though they are accepting applications for 11th and 12th, were there 11th and 12th graders on the waitlist? Or did they only have a waitlist of 9th and 10th grade applicants? I don't know, but I have a feeling that some schools have a "courtesy" waitlist--where they don't really think you will be the best fit, but for whatever reason, don't want to flat-out reject you. So, they put you on the waitlist. Thoughts?

Like being crowned Miss Congeniality?

I really don't that is the case. My friend tried applying late last year for the 10th grade and they wouldn't allow her to do that. I don't think Exeter accepts late applications. Especially if they have no more spots to fill, that wouldn't make sense...and would seem unfair to those people who have been sitting on the wait list.

I totally agree to this. They should not have given any hopes to students by saying that there might be some available spots later. They actually admittted enough students and they actually knew that there won't be any open slots later. They gave the wailtlist for their worst case. Furthermore the waitlist was longer than necessary. They do not care about the applicants and they just thought about themselves to fill any open slots they could not fill later. If we are very very luck, then only one or two students will get the admission from more than 50 waitlistees.
