Expected ACT score improvement 2nd time around

Hey everyone- I took the ACT in February with ZERO preparation. I simply wanted to see what the test was like and how it compared to the SAT. I am planning on doing ACT tutoring over the next few months and will take the test again. I was wondering how much people have improved from their first ACT test with little/no prep. to their ACT scores after having prepared.

I got a composite score of 28
Reading- 33
Writing-26
Math - 28
Science - 25

I know that i can improve on science with some tutoring and a better understanding of the format and i hope to improve on my other scores as well.

Please leave your opinions and experience!

Thank you!

I'm in you boat except i got a 30 composite. You reading and even writing are higher then mine. I've been told that Science is the most important since it is basically the SAT in 40 minutes with all it's reasoning mumbo jumbo...so make sure u can get 30+ on that. I got a 29 and want to get that score into the 30's.

you'll do better on the next test. My friend took it the first time and got R-36 M-36 E-36 S-30 Essay-12. 35 Composite, but he was annoyed. He thought he could be more time-efficient if he just skipped reading the opening paragraphs for each of the science passage and go straight to the graph and questions. Boy was he wrong. :p. He got straight 36 throughout on second. Good luck!

do you really advocate not reading the science passages? I have read this more than once on cc. Hard to believe, but if true, S will try anything!

I got a 29 like that.
25 english
26 science
32 reading
33 math

I just took it again after learning to read the science and I expect scores to rise significantly.

I got a 33 composite with no prep

36 English
31 Math
30 Reading
34 Science
10 Essay

I just took the test again last week after taking trig/precalc so i’m guessing my math score will go up andd i did some reading comp prep so i hope for improvement there too

overall i just felt more comfortable taking the test the second time and feel much more confident, so i’m sure your score will improve too! (: great work.

Once you have a score that’s in range for the schools you want the second time around is such a relaed feeling it’s ubeooevabke. In that environment your score ail rise.
