<p>'expected amount' to pay for college on the finaid application:</p>

<p>my sibling told me that if I put 9000 USD they will anyway probably ask for more(15000) but if I put 3000 they will ask for 9000-10000 so I ended up writing 3000 as the expected amount of cost; </p>

<p>any info on this ?</p>

<p>actually it is called 'expected family contribution' not expected amount</p>

<p>I just ask my parents how much they could save for my education and we wrote that number down. I think that telling them the actual amount of money you can give is the best policy in this case.</p>
