Just an FYI for y’all, I applied August 31 and mine just changed from the default “applications will be considered starting October” to “All of your required application materials have been received by the priority deadline… Admission decisions are sent on a rolling basis beginning in October. All students…will receive their decisions by the end of February.”

For those of you fortunate to have received your decision, feel free to share your stats/specifics in the other admissions thread. For those of you curious, there’s an admissions thread that people have been posting to. See how you match up against them, and take them with a grain of salt. UMN seems to have accepted only the really stellar early on.

On here I’m talking for my girlfriend (I’m currently a student at the U)

She sent in the online application around early September (transcripts and ACT scores etc).

She applied to CBS with a 33 ACT and class rank 3 out of 535 and a near 4.0 GPA and full AP load. Still has not changed from default “applications will be considered starting October”

I’m pretty sure she is an obvious admit but still no word

Does anybody know when transfer admission decisions are made for spring semester? Specifically for the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD)

Also how long did it generally take for everyones status to change after receiving the letter in the mail saying thanks for applying? About a month ago my status changed saying they received all of my materials but just this past week I received the letter so I thought that was slightly odd.

I havent received a letter on my applying either. Still no change in the application tracker as well; getting terribly worried again, even though I know it’s only been like two weeks since they started admission decisions.

33 ACT
GPA: uw 3.56; w 3.4.
Class Rank: N/A as school doesn’t rank.
5 A/P’s a bunch of honors courses, etc.
Lettered in Art, should receive academic letter by the end of this semester
Numerous E/C’s including enrichment and mentoring in the arts as well as tutoring in math and reading.
Resident status: In-state
School: Private

Applied to CLA and CDes at the end of Aug. and application was complete by mid-Sept.

I wouldn’t worry about letters arriving by mail weeks later because snail mail seems to lag the Application Tracker by quite a bit based on our experience as well as that of other posters.

Received the congrats on acceptance letter in the mail yesterday. No scholarship notification with it, darn. I liked it better when the scholarship info came before the admission. Just have to wait…

Admitted! College of Liberal Arts. D’s VERY happy. Art and design major. Stats are listed above.

Originally applied as a “safety” and became worried that her GPA might get her wait listed or rejected outright. She had actually received a small one-time scholarship from CLA last year in an academic competition so we had figured it was a given but then after looking at the stats we realized that it’s not so clear-cut (and the scholarship is contingent upon admission, of course). Anyway, she is also applying to several art and design schools so isn’t exactly sure where she will end up. A lot depends on scholarship money, etc. She’s become increasingly intrigued with what UMTC has to offer in terms of their fine arts and design programs so it’s definitely more likely than a safety now. Her art teacher has also been talking it up. From my perspective, I just want her to choose well and not break the parental bank!!! (We have other children in the pipeline ).

It’s pretty obvious to me that the Admissions Dep’t DID read her entire application, because she really had difficulty during her sophomore year and then was able to turn it around and present herself as a strong applicant. Hopefully this information will give hope to others waiting on a decision who aren’t necessarily 4.0/top-ranked students.

So my friend who applied the day application was up got accepted. He’s probably a 3.8 GPA. I don’t know much other than that, but hopefully the timing is helpful. My other friend who’s a 3.6 GPA who applied mid-August has yet to hear his offer.

I’m becoming very anxious because people at my school have been accepted into the U with similar stats as mine, but my application has yet to change despite the fact I applied earlier.
I’m curious as to why this is, and the only thing I could think of is the fact that I applied to the nursing program and because it’s highly selective my stats aren’t good enough to be considered an easy acceptance.
Would this be logical? If not, what else could it be?
I’m very nervous because the U is my top school so any explanation would be very helpful.

You could call nursing and ask them. It might be something simple such as that nursing operates on a different schedule and hasn’t begun releasing decisions yet.

D is in a similar situation, heyoimsam. I haven’t seen anyone in these forums indicating acceptance into Nursing. D applied in July during the first week the application was open. At another institution her admission was deferred until Nursing made their decision. Once they reviewed and accepted her, then the University notified her. We are just speculating - the same as you - that Nursing is reviewing apps and if an applicant isn’t an obvious admit, they are probably waiting a bit to see a larger sample before making a decision on a Freshman Nursing Guarantee or referring to CLA.

Anxiety is high in our house, too, since throughout the day we hope for a change to “your application is being carefully considered,” but we’re still stuck on the first default screen.

Best of luck to you; patience is tough, but you’re not alone.

Default status on app tracker just changed to include “Students whose complete applications are submitted after the priority deadline are considered on a space-available basis beginning in March”. Not really important but I’m just looking for any change to my application status.
