OOS acceptance for DS to CSE . Application date 10/16, changed to careful consideration ? Friday, accepted today. No financial/scholarship info though.

Daughter accepted today into College of Liberal Arts (or whatever you call it) with Fresman Nursing Guarantee!

Congratulations, Jara123! If you would be comfortable sharing some of the stats for your daughter, I know there are several of us who would be interested. My daughter applied in July and still hasn’t heard a word, neither from Nursing nor CLA. Thanks very much.

Sure 2incollegesoon ( me too by the way re 2 in college!!) My daughter attends a large public highschool in the Midwest. She had a 30 on her ACT’s and an unweighted GPA of 3.8. She took several honors classes and 3 AP classes. She is the President of 2 major school clubs as well as editor in chief of the newspaper. She’s White. Very little health care related activities. I think that covers what might be relevant. If you have any other questions let me know.

Anyone still waiting for their decision? Zzz I’m not even anxious anymore, just really I-)

@asthrera same here, at first I would check my tracker daily now it’s like once a week I really anticipated this being the first college I heard back from, yet I’ve already heard back from 2 other schools… One of which I didn’t even expect to get accepted into.

How long did it take for everyone to get their Student ID number after submitting their application? I still didn’t get mine yet and I submitted my app on Nov 10. It’s been 2 weeks. Should I have already gotten it by now?

I had to call Admissions to get my D’s #. They verified who I was before releasing it (it can be released to parent or guardian no problem). I’d call today because then you can track your application status and see each day where it stands (what’s been received, what’s missing, etc.). Good luck!

Just got in! I applied 1.5 weeks ago if that helps anyone :)

Which school did you apply to?

How are people getting in when they applied less than 2 weeks ago :(( I applied early August…

I know right, I applied in September and I am just so :(( I-)

Tomorrow marks the 3 month mark of when they received my materials and my application still isn’t being reviewed

I remember 2 years ago a classmate of my D’s was complaining in late January that he still hadn’t heard anything from UMN. They did get around to him eventually, but he was quite offended by the long wait.

My son applied OOS in September using the expedited application (can’t remember what it was called). Like many of you, I have been seeing posts from people that have been accepted to UMN already and could not understand why my son’s application was taking so long to process. Finally today I talked to my son’s high school college counselor. Until this year, she was an academic adviser at Minnesota, Twin Cities, so she knew who to talk to there. She learned that the decision time relates to what college the student is applying to. For the the College of Science and Engineering, they will not begin comprehensive reviews until after the December 15, Early Application deadline. Then the entire pool of applications will be reviewed. Decisions will likely not go out before mid-January at the earliest. She believes that the situation is similar for the Carlson School of Management.

And I realize that some students seem to have already been admitted to CSA, so take this for what you paid for it.

Son: 33 ACT (35 Science, 34 Math), National AP Scholar (5s on AB Calc, BC Calc, Physics C E&M, Physics C Mechanics, Biology, Computer Science A, and other AP exams), 3.53/4 from one of the top HS in the Country (almost all AP & Honors classes since 9th grade), Varsity Basketball, decent volunteer and work experience, NM Commended.

The kids who are hearing back quickly for CSE seem to be kids with very high stats. TBH an applicant with a 33 ACT and National AP Scholar (pretty darn rare at application time) seems to fit that bill. A little surprised he hasn’t heard back but it is still only November.

I’m not sure if in-state status affects this or not, but I have many friends who have gotten into CSE already and who have been notified of honors status. I was admitted to CBS over a month ago and got notified of honors a few weeks ago.

got into CSE 2300 sat and 3.97 gpa

How is the honors notification handled? Is it on the tracker? What kind of stats are you looking at for honors? Thanks!

You can see the honor student profile in the attached link.
