I'm a currently a freshman, considering transferring to Syracuse sometime in the future. I'm really interested in transferring to Syracuse, but I need to know how much it's going to cost. I've heard that Syracuse is really generous with financial aid, but I want to know if I should even bother

I've got an EFC of 0, expected GPA of about 3.3 by the end of the year, and I expect those things to remain constant. I don't know if it matters, but I also have a strong legacy (Mother and maternal grandfather went to Syracuse).

If anybody can tell me what they got, or what I should expect, that would be appreciated.

Syracuse currently costs around $54k a year. I do not know anybody getting that much financial aid really, but you could always RA, which cuts down on $10k a year.

Syracuse roughly costs around $55k (Tuition $31k + Room & Board $14k). Syracuse gives out a lot of financial aid (Syracuse grant < 15k, Merit based < 12k, state+federal grant < 9k). In the end you might have to take some sorta student loans to get it cover. You can live off campus and that might not cost you over $7k/year, so you save about $7k.

@ebonhunger Syracuse is very generous with financial aid. They try their best to fit your needs. After i received my financial aid package and tomd them i didnt want to have to take out that much loans they added 6k of more grant money. So dont be shy about asking if you need more aid, if the funds are availble they will work with tou. You could actually check an estimate of how your financial aid package will look like. It is fairly accurate. <a href=“Net Price Calculator”>Net Price Calculator;

Syracuse does NOT guarantee to meet full need, nor does it. And aid is usually not as good for transfers. If you are set on transferring make sure you include some affordable schools. Most schools, even those that guarantee to meet full need do not have that guarantee in place for transfer students,

My daughter is a sophomore and I can confirm SU is extremely generous with aid. They are also very accomodating when you request additional aid due to personal financial circumstances.
