Expected/Historic curves for Bio M, Chem and USH?

There are way too many pages to go through to see if this has been discussed on the individual threads, so in short... does anyone have a good guess or any historic info on the anticipated amount that can be missed for these tests in order to score an 800? -- For the test taken May 7th.

These are raw scores:
-10 for US
-4 for chem
-3 for bio

all should be a 800

I got it from :[SparkNotes: SAT Subject Test: U.S. History: Scoring and the SAT II U.S. History](<a href=“SparkNotes: Today's Most Popular Study Guides”>SparkNotes: Today's Most Popular Study Guides)

@ nostalgic – what is your source? you’re probably right, but your answers make me a little nervous :-).

thanks j12, i’m looking to see if there are other subject tests on sparknotes, thanks to your link.

My source is the blue book with all the tests in it.

^ sounds like a good source! thanks!

I feel like US was super easy, so I’m expecting a harsher curve like -8 or something.

lets just pray the curve is worse. AP’s curve is god-sent; SAT II’s…not so much

Just bumping to help out someone looking for bio curves.

-8 would be only 6 wrong right? and none left blank?

6 wrong is -7 and 7 wrong is -9, so -8 isn’t possible unless you skip something

? i think you’re wrong. 6 wrong is -6 + -2 for guessing penalties.

^6 wrong is -7.5, which rounds to -7 (after subtracting the penalty from the raw, the .5 rounds up in the raw score). 7 wrong is -8.75, which would round to -9.

ohhhhhhhhhh it rounds up? so in terms of negatives, it gets less negative? i always thought if on sats or w.e if you got like 6 wrong, you would get 6 off then another 2 points since there is a -1 for the 4 wrong and another -1 for the 2 wrong since it rounds up?

I agree. The USH was much easier than the practice test I took.
Of course, that could just be because I took the APUSH test the day before, and had spent some time preparing for that (none specifically for the subject test other than one practice test).

EDIT - and yes, it rounds in your favor if it’s at a .5.

^^Let’s say you get 60 right and 6 wrong. You’d have 60-7.5=62.5. However, that rounds up to 63. So in reality, you’re only losing 7 points.

OHHHHHHH… i see, so am i just rounding before i subtract from the total?

^No, you round after you subtract.

yeah i’m saying that i rounded the amount i got wrong before i subtracted it.
