Expelled from college

I was expelled from my college a week ago. I was wondering if I can apply to any other college as a freshman without saying that I was expelled. (I technically don’t have completed credits) The only problem is that I’m an international student with a F1 visa. I guess I would just have to change it for the next college, but what do you guys think about the expulsion?

No, you can’t.

Colleges have mechanisms to prevent that – especially since expelled students have erred significantly, up to and including near criminal offenses or other misbehavior. You’re not the first to consider that idea nor the last. I’m sorry for your circumstances but now trying to sneak in will result if failure.

What did you do?

Schools can and do run applicants’ names through a clearing house to see if they have attended other schools. You would be far better off admitting the expulsion and stating what you’ve hopefully learned and will do differently.

You probably will not be able to transfer to a new institution quickly enough to preserve your current visa status. If you are still in the US, go speak with the international student advisor at your old college and find out what your options are. Once you are out of status, you must leave the country within two weeks.

Go see the international counselor. Be humble and apologetic. Do not make excuses - own your mistake. Explain your predicament, ask for advice.
From now on, your name is in a national clearinghouse so you can’t pretend you never attended college. Your being in the US depends on your being enrolled so you’ll either had to enroll in community college within 2 weeks (not sure it’s possible) or leave, I think. The alternative may be applying immediately to colleges for spring admissions. I think Hendrix and St Michael’s accept Spring freshmen .
