Experience Case - April 8th.

Anyone go to this Experience Case Day?? Overnight maybe? Hmm, it was nice

I went to one the end of March. I have made my decision and am going to Case. Turning down Johns Hopkins, Duke, Michigan, Wash U. St. Louis....and not just for the scholarship either. I like Case.

i went yesterday. I'm still deciding.

what did you think of it babau?

WOW PSATMADNESS... you are turning down all top 4 schools for CASSSE?

i wonder if admission acceptance is transferable...

ME:
rejected at duke
accepted at UMich
waitlisted at washu.
didnt apply to JHU
accepted at case

YOU:
accepted at all 4. and still picking CASE?

I liked the physics department ... a lot. No one from the history department was represented, which annoyed also kind of worried me. I'll have to send them a few e-mails.

I visited Case 2 summers ago, and it remember the campus being a whole lot more beautiful. The campus is decent. The place I stayed at is getting torn down. So everybody's going to stay in the North area which is easily the best looking part of the campus.

The people I stayed with were really wierd. I can't decide it was in a good sense or not. One kid was from West Virginia and was apparently very prone to offending people. He didn't bother me, so I was fine. I didn't see very many pretty girls, but that shouldn't affect your/my decision in the slightest bit.

the other prospect that my RA had to take care of was cool. so were a couple of comp-sci freshmen I talked to.

Yes. The scholarship of course was very helpful (Trustees). I can't see spending $160,000 to get an undergrad degree - and I totally intend to go to grad school. I am going to major in biomedical engineering and Case has a good rep in that. I liked WashU but no money offered.

I don't have concerns about the quality of education I'll get there.

psatmadness - you WILL get an excellent education at Case. We know a lot of people who graduated from there and they were very happy with the education they received. My son & I love the school and he can't wait to start this fall.

BabuMohan - Sorry that you didn't get to speak with someone from the History dept. Were you invited to the liberal arts weekend? You should have definately come to that. It was geared for students who will be pursuing a liberal arts education. My son did both (liberal arts weekend and an Experience Case day) and what you attended was more for the physics, engineering, etc. students. We did enjoy both days very much. As far as the students go - you will find all types. There really are some students who never leave their rooms (playing computer games, etc.) and there are students who are always out and about. I think though that you would find the same thing at any college you attend. Good luck with your decision.

We didn't hear about liberal arts weekend. You don't mean fine arts, do you? It seems to me that Case is good for medical/engineering etc and also music/arts but does anyone know how strong the foreign languages and international studies programs are? My daughter is interested in Asian languages but one person we talked to said they only have a study abroad program in Germany.

shellymom - This information is NOT correct. My son will be majoring in Art History & French and I know that they have many classes dedicated to the language field. Go to their website and check out what they have. If you can't find it e-mail Case - they have been very good about getting back to us with any info that we have asked. Did your daughter put down what she wanted to major in when she applied to the school?

shellymom - I am at work. Last time I was at Case I picked up a foreign language packet that lists contacts, etc. If you can't find any let me know and I'll look it up for you when I get home.

Maybe she said she was interested in computers. But later she decided to focus on language. Anyway, maybe we should carry on with our misconception because, although she loved the campus, we realized the price tag was a bit too much for us.

Okay, but they do have study abroad programs (I checked their website just to make double sure).
