Has any one ever had any experience/know anyone with petitioning to be in the Economics major if you have a GPA slightly below 3.0?

Thanks!

I talked to the economic adviser a couple times.

If you’re a transfer, you’re transfer classes have to be at a 3.0. If they are slightly below, say a 2.9, then they don’t disqualify you. They look toward how you do your first semester at Berkeley. The requirement is a 2.7 for the first semester, if you get that, you get in.

if you’ve been at Berkeley since freshman year, then you need a 3.0 for your major classes. They are pretty strict about this, unless you can provide them with a compelling reason why you got below 3.0 and you still deserve to be in the major.

If you don’t make it in, then you could try Applied Mathematics with a concentration in economics. It is pretty valuable for finance or graduate work.
