<p>On CAT exams, is it typical to get both the unidentified unscored and identified research sections? Do these come after the scored sections (two writings, V, and Q)? Ughhh... I'd hate to waste energy on them...</p>
<p>I only got the identified research section and it was always after the actual test. </p>
<p>The unidentified section can come up at any stage. Don’t bother trying to predict it. You may regret it.</p>
<p>It’s kinda weird because when I took the GRE. I had the experimental section at the end. They told me that this is the research section. You can quit any time you want.</p>
<p>Same. I took it on Friday and my research section was the very last section - they made it clear that it was the research section and that participating was voluntary.</p>

<p>The UNIDENTIFIED section is UNIDENTIFIED for a reason. Basically, you’ll get 2 math, 1 verbal or 2 verbal, 1 math and one or the other will be the experimental section. It’s unidentified to maintain the validity of the experiment. The identified research section, IIRC, is always at the end and is optional.</p>

<p>As I said in my earlier post, I took the GRE two weeks ago this coming Friday and had one writing section, one math section, one verbal section, and one math experimental section, which was clearly identified as such.</p>

<p>Although you got the identified section, many people get an unidentified section–which can be either verbal or math and the unidentified section can show up before or after the scored section.</p>
<p>MasterMoe, you misunderstood what I was saying. I’m not saying that it’s impossible for there to be an unidentified section - I realize that they exist and are often included.</p>
<p>However, I know for a fact that my test (and the test that a few of the other posters are referring to) had no unidentified experimental section. An experimental section, yes, but that section was identified, contrary to what apumic was saying.</p>
<p>Apumic didn’t make any statements with regards to your tests or what can and can’t happen.</p>
