Experimental sections?

OK, I'm confused--I am accustomed to having 9 sections for the SAT. I took the test twice before and have taken many practice tests. Usually there are the following: One essay, one 10-minute writing, one 25-minute writing, 3 math, 3 reading. In this test, I had an additional reading (making it 4 reading sections!). I have read threads referring to an "experimental section." Could someone explain what this means? Could you explain which reading section is "experimental" and does that mean it isn't graded? Why do they do this?

Thanks!

Haha reading an extra 25 mins must suck

There indeed is a section in the SAT that doesn't count toward your score.
I think it's common sense why they do this.
