Experts say Duke image can weather scandal

<p>"Duke's tough year has university administrators worried: Has this chain of ugly events damaged Duke's hard-earned image as the South's "Ivy League" school? Will the latest scandal drive away students who strive to earn the academic credentials needed to win a coveted place in the classrooms of Duke's Gothic-styled campus?"</p>

<p>Of course they can weather it... its a horrible thing that has happened... but other schools have had scandals. The public eats up stories like this, but the public has a bad memory.</p>

<p>This isn't to bring down the importance of what happened in anyway... just a commentary on how our "entertainment news" society seems to work now. Duke will be able to rebound from this scandal and use it as a springboard to help campuses around the country make moves to curb problems very similar to Dukes that may or may not have already come to a head.</p>

<p>All publicity is good........even the bad kind.</p>

<p>I know this is an absolutely horrible crime (if it was committed) but notice that the headlines always read "prestigious university" or "elite school"- any press is good press, i agree.</p>
