Explain BRBs and the West Campus House Meal Plan?

Okay, 2 questions:

1 - What are BRBs (Big Red Bucks)? It says for food only...but what food? I'm confused.

2 - It says "Unlimited access to meals during desginated service periods within the West Campus system."

What are the desginated service periods?

And does that simply mean I can walk into any of the West Campus dining halls, and get whatever I want to eat, without paying, anytime I want?

If so - doesn't that seem unfair? Other meal plans have so many meals a week, why is West Campus unlimited? Worse food?

big red bucks are for a-la-carte food service facilities...basically like cornell places that sell food but are not dining halls...

unlimited access means you can eat all you want in the dining hall that is inside your dorm building (north campus dorms dont have dining halls in their dorm buildings) while breakfast/lunch/dinner is being served...

Only the one inside my dorm building? It says to the West Campus dining halls, not just the one in my dorm?

i guess you can eat at any...but unless you know folk in the others...why go eat elsewhere?

and no, unlimited isn't unfair because they are trying to foster a house community so they want everyone to eat in the dining halls as much as possible. but you will be up the hill most of the time, and won't have time to come down the hill to eat all the meals anyway.

i've never eatin at west campus alot, but the few times i was there, def. better eating environment. brbs can be used at popular locations like trillium, ivy room, etc. (but not manndibles in mann library).

Is it common for students who live on West to have refrigerators/microwaves in their rooms? My parents think it makes very little sense to have a fridge in my room when I have a dining hall five floors below me, but I still kind of want one. Is it a waste of money?

i think a fridge is useful...a microwave not really...

you can eat at any house? i will be living in cook. does taht mean i can have unlimited in keeton etc also?

correct, you can eat in any house. except for dinner on wednesdays where you have to eat in your own house i beleive.

lol what? whats so special about wednesday dinners haha

you get "special" food. it's of limited variety but i guess the quality is better. and maybe there will be a performance or a guest speaker or something.
