Hey guys, so I have a question:

There are colleges that you apply to out of high school, where if you get in and agree to a few terms, you are guaranteed to be accepted into the medical school of that same university.

Here is an example:
Academics at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

My 2 questions:

Is it possible to get into these types of prgroams are a transfer? I am currently a freshman in my 2nd semester of college, so is it possible to apply as transfers into these programs? I know you will advise me to check the websites directly, but I have done that and its confusing at times...

Do these programs usually accept transfers, or are they MAINLY for high school students?

Thank you!

Basically if you look at this:
Transfer-BSPS

I am currently a freshman in college (2nd semester) and will have completed these pre med classes:

1 year of bio with lab
1 year of math
1 year of Enlgish

If I wanted to transfer there, it’s too late for me to apply now, so lets say I wanted to apply next year for the 3rd year class. That wouldn’t be possible though either, because you have to complete TWO years of chem, and I will start my first year of chem next year. So by then I will be in my 3rd year of college, and that is the time to be applying to normal med schools…doesn’t that mean these types of programs are meant MAINLY for hs students?

I don’t know about the particular program at ACP you’re looking at but have heard of pharmacy students transferring in after 1 year college. I believe they were required to do the freshman year over again, ie. start as if they were entering from hs. The admissions staff there is very knowledgeable and prompt in responding to emails - I’m sure they’d love to hear from you as, when we visited last Aug, they said they had very few pre-med students!
